SWE429 resting in Strängnäs

SWE429 at the dock on Saturday night.
She is a good boat, she just needs her skipper to steer her in the right direction...

Report from the race in Strängnäs

We raced for two days in very light wind conditions.
Nice weather, but like said, very light winds.
The organizers did a fantastic job with the arrangement.
Posting a picture of Peter Norlin, the designer of the Norlin Mark III boat.

Blogmaster ended up 27 out of 38 boats. I had higher ambitions, but had at least a couple of races when it "felt" like in the old days. The 2.4mR is a very complicated boat to sail really fast and I just need to spend more time practicing.

Mathias Gustafsson, a buddy from Nyköping and now residing in Strängnäs, did very well and ended up in 15th place in a borrowed boat! Great job!

This picture is from yesterday afternoon.

WASH AND GO

Wash and polish tonight of SWE429 Satir.
Wax tomorrow night and then turned back on it´s keel on Wednesday.

Sailing might happen on Saturday if we can get to our launch crane.

Petrus will go ahead and buy the old Söderström boats from our fleet to start a new fleet in Tranås. He is planing to pick the boats up on Wednesday or Thursday.

Finally!

Last night I went to pick up my 2.4mR SWE429 "Satir" from storage. It feels great to play with the boat after the winter break. I started with some updates and repairs today and will hopefully get it all done tomorrow.

Johan is getting closer to completion of his SWE393. Blogmaster plans a visit to see how he is doing tomorrow Sunday.

Juan to design and build new 2.4mR!

April 1:st:

After Juan's involvement in the Ericsson Racing team, and the design job now nearing completion on the Ericsson 4 boat, Juan looks for a new bigger challenge.

Secure sources tells blogmaster that a syndicate has been formed involving Juan for a new 2.4mR design to be built here in Nyköping. I have no more news at this point, but wanted to share this ground breaking information with you.

Blogmaster e-mail address

If you want to get in contact with the Nyköping fleet of 2.4mR sailors you can e-mail blogmaster at: larsli68@hotmail.com

Happy Easter!

The Nyköping fleet wishes all our readers a Happy Easter!

Soon we will be sailing, even if we are currently experiencing a set back in the weather here in Sweden. It is colder now than what we have had all winter...

Over 10000 visitors!!!

Today we broke through 10000 visitors/hits on our blog site.
Blogmaster is happy about this and will try to keep up the work on servicing this blog.

The Nyköping fleet is planning a PUB evening within the next two weeks. Please let blogmaster know which evenings works best for you.

Posting a picture of "Pojkbåten" Juni that my brother bought two weeks ago.
While working on his 6mR SWE 31 "Silvervingen" he will sail this little beauty this coming summer. Pojkbåt means a boy´s boat in English. Silvervingen means Silver wing in English. That might have been easy for you English speakers to figure out without me telling you...

Comments

Since someone posted a comment that linked to a virus site here on our blog, blogmaster have changed the settings for comments. Now all comments have to be approved by blogmaster. I'm sorry to have to do this, but I don't want anyone of our readers to get viruses because they tried to read the comments.

The early years part four

In our series the early years, the final page of the 1983/84 flyer.
The Odd 1:5 is slightly smaller and lighter than the later Norlin and Malmsten boats.
Something that shows especially in heavier wind conditions.
I remember the summer of 1983 with great joy. I sailed the Odd 1:5 as ofter as I could. Many times I spent 6-7 hours in the boat per day and enjoyed every minute of it.

The early years part three

Posting another picture from the early years of 2.4mR/Mini12 sailing. Blogmaster is visible in S 36 on port tack. This picture is taken on "Segelbåtens dag" sailboat day in Stockholm, September 15th 1983. I´m not 100% sure on the date, my memory might not be correct on that. September 1983 I´m pretty sure is correct. Also notice the spinnaker sailing with a 2.4mR/Mini12.

The early years part two

This is part two in our flashback to the early eighties.

Odd´s 1:5- A twelve in scale 1:5

Unsinkable

One design for everyone

Internal ballast- offcourse

The early years

It took me quite some time to see that Odd Lindqvist had posted a reply on our blogsite. In his honor, I have scanned some pictures from a advertising flyer made after the race in Stockholm, September 1983. I have scanned the entire newsletter and will post more pictures, check back in later for more goodies.
